Dali played for a number of clubs during his career.
He began his junior career at Troglav 1918 Livno before joining Hajduk Split in 1983 and beginning his professional career. He remained at Hajduk Split until 1986, when he joined Cibalia, which was then known as Dinamo Vinkovci. Dali has also played for Budunost Titograd, Vele Mostar, and Varteks in addition to Hajduk Split and Cibalia. In the year 2000, he retired from Varteks.
The Croatian Football Federation selected Dali as the head coach of the Croatia national football team on October 7, 2017, following the dismissal of Ante ai due to a string of poor results. Dali said upon his arrival that he would only remain head coach if Croatia qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and that the HNS would decide his fate if Croatia failed to qualify.
