Dorothy Tristan, who made memorable appearances in the early 1970s films End of the Road, Klute, and Scarecrow before displaying incredible fortitude by writing and starring in the independent movie The Looking Glass in 2015, has passed away. She was 88.
After a 10-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Tristan passed away on Sunday at her home outside of La Porte, Indiana, according to her 48-year-old husband, director John D. Hancock (Bang the Drum Slowly).
She is survived by her children, photographer Alex, and musician Tristan; grandchildren Sebastian, Chloe, and Aram; and great-grandson Elijah.
Aram A. Avakian was her first spouse; they were married from 1957 until their divorce in 1972.
