Tragically, he suffered a heart attack while traveling overseas, leaving us all in a state of shock and mourning.
Adrian’s journey was one of remarkable achievements and contributions to the world of music. A distinguished alumnus of our Glee Club, he went on to achieve remarkable heights in his academic pursuits.
Adrian earned his Masters of Arts in Music Performance and Literature from Notre Dame in 1991, followed by the esteemed distinction of a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano from the renowned Eastman School of Music in 1994.
Adrian’s devotion to music education and administration was truly exceptional. He dedicated his talents and knowledge to the Eastman School of Music, where he held several significant positions, including the role of Associate Dean for Admissions. His impact on the institution was immeasurable, shaping the future of countless aspiring musicians. In 2009, Adrian’s journey led him to the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he assumed the role of Dean of the Conservatory. His leadership and vision brought new horizons to the institute, nurturing the next generation of musical talent and ensuring the legacy of excellence.
In 2015, the Colburn School welcomed Adrian as its Provost, further highlighting his influence and ability to contribute meaningfully to the world of music education. Through his passion, expertise, and dedication, he continued to make a lasting difference in the lives of students and the broader music community.
Beyond his impressive achievements, Adrian Daly’s warmth, wisdom, and Irish spirit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
