On the August 5 evening, around 7 o’clock, a significant incident unfolded at the Montgomery Riverfront near Coosa Street. This occurrence drew the attention of the police due to a disturbance that was reported.

A pontoon boat ended up blocking another boat called the Harriott II from docking. For about 45 minutes, there were attempts to talk to the folks on the pontoon boat and ask them to move. But things got tense, and the people on the pontoon boat became impolite, even using offensive gestures.

Then, Damien Pickett, who works on the Harriott II, was brought to the dock. Things escalated further when a group of White men came over and began attacking Damien right there on the dock.

People were shouting, and some even jumped in the water to help. Later, another group of people got into a fight too. Some were Black, and some were White.

It lasted for more than a minute, and even a lady got hit with a folding chair. All of this was captured on video, and one video even captures Mary Todd kicking Damien Pickett.
