At the age of 72, Alan White Drummer passed away in his Seattle home on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

His wife, Gigi White, announced his death on Musician’s Facebook page with a lengthy condolence statement that did not reveal the cause of his death.

“YES announces Alan White, their much-loved drummer and friend of 50 years, has passed away, aged 72, after a brief illness,” the band said in a statement.

Due to surgery for a damaged disc in his lower back, he was forced to leave the progressive rock band for a short time.

He was already performing in public venues when he was 13 years old.

In 1972, White made his YES debut on the band’s fifth studio album, Close to the Edge.
