Alfie Allen Biography

Alfie Allen is an English actor born and raised in Hammersmith, London, England. He is best known for his role as Theon Grejoy in the television series Game of Thrones which premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019.

Allen gained international attention and even went ahead and got nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2019. He also got other nominations for his role in Game of Thrones like the Empire Awards in 2015 which he won.

Allen grew up in a family of actors, singers and film producers. It was very obvious that he would follow in the footsteps of his family and ventured into the film industry. He made his first debut in 1998 when he appeared in a one-off channel 4 comedy, You are here. The comedy was co-written by English actor Matt Lucas and D avid Walliams who is also an English actor and comedian.

Still the same year, Allen and his older sister appeared in the film Elizabeth. Allen played the role of Arundel’s son. The film was produced by their mother Alison Owen, written by Micheal Hirst and directed by Shekhar Kapur. It starred Cate Blanchett alongside Geoffrey Rush.

From there he started getting small roles in movies like Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London which was directed by his uncle Kevin Allen. He also appeared in the films Atonement as Danny Hardman and in BBC1’s hospital drama, Casualty 1907 as Nobby Clark.

In 2008 January 31, in Chichester, Allen took over the role of Daniel Radcliffe in the drama play Equus which was on a nationwide tour. In April 2009, Allen co-starred with Jaime Winstone who was his then-girlfriend in the music video for Dust Video by English Ska band Madness.

Alfie also had a role in the BBC2 Freefall in 2009 in which he played the role of Ian. Allen had originally auditioned for the role of Jon Snow in the HBO medieval fantasy series Game of Thrones in 2011 but he ended up getting the role of Theo Greyjoy. He gained international attention and even got several nominations like the Empire Awards which he won. He appeared in films, Soulboy, The Kid, Freestyle, Powder and starred in the thriller Confine.

In 2016, Alfie filmed a two-part documentary for the History Channel titled Football: A Brief History. He explored the roots of Association Football and gave his take on the English game. Part of the filming took him to Rangers, a Scottish football club. The documentary was directed by British film and television director and producer Mike Christie. Allen is an Arsenal fan.
