Padukone enjoys swimming and snorkeling. "Unlike many other forms of cardio, swimming uses a wide range of muscles," according to the experts at Wake Forest University. "In addition to toning your whole body, swimming builds both strength and endurance."
Padukone loves indulging in a bowl of pistachios for a healthy snack. Nuts are shown to have protective benefits against cholesterol and insulin resistance, experts say. "Frequent nut consumption is associated with a lower risk of developing high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and cancer," says Tufts University.
Padukone is passionate about the beauty of nature, and loves hiking. "Hiking involves something many other forms of exercise don't: trails," says Jill Suttie, Psy.D. "That means it requires navigating in a world that's not totally predictable. Slippery dirt, overhanging branches and hidden obstacles, trail markers, and wild animals crossing your path—all of the things you might encounter on a trail require micro- and macro-adjustments to your route, which is good for your brain."

"They aren't just a cheap alternative to meat anymore. They can be the foundation for a variety of meals and make a real difference to your health."
