On March 13, 2023, James “Richard” Dalton, 87, of Demorest, passed away.

Son of the late Buford Dalton and Stella Duckett Dalton, he was born in Baldwin on April 13, 1935. Mr. Dalton, a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, worked for Lockheed and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as a retired flight test engineer. He belonged to Baldwin’s Harmony Baptist Church.

Jonathan Dalton and John Coggins, along with his parents, were his grandchildren who died before him.

His wife Wanice Gale Ward Dalton remains at home with their children David Holton, Jessica Herrin (Josh), and Brittany Ferguson; son and daughter-in-law Anthony Richard Dalton (Loretta) of Baldwin; daughters Julie Batson of Demorest, Laurie Holtshouser of Demorest, and Vicki Ellen Coggins of Madison.

Rev. Terry Rice will officiate at memorial ceremonies on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from noon until the time of the ceremony, friends may visit with the family at the funeral home.
