Being born to a mother who was an artist, Santos grew up listening to different types of music. Initially, he was interested in rock music. Later, after listening to some Puerto Rican singers, Santos became inclined towards reggaeton. He moved to Puerto Rico, with the intention of becoming a singer. He formed an association with the Puerto Rican singer, De La Ghetto. The duo became extremely popular among the reggaeton fans of the United States, and Puerto Rico. They released several hit singles, and compilation albums, but never released a studio album. Austin Santos went on to start his solo career.
