Cheerleader, 16, passes away more than a week after Kentucky collision
According to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, Campbell County High School cheerleader Ava Markus passed away on Tuesday after spending more than a week in the hospital following an accident.Around 6 o’clock on Sunday, October 2, the collision happened on Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring close to the intersection with St. Michael Drive.The 16-year-old was in a car that was hit by a semi, according to the police.We did have a situation when a person was trapped inside a smaller car, and we had to utilize our extrication tools to free the victim. According to Fire Chief Dan Schultz, it took us 5 to 7 minutes to free that person and get him to the hospital.Police are currently looking into the collision. Although it’s unclear if speed is a contributing cause, locals who work nearby claim that automobiles frequently drive too fast on Alexandria Pike.The hashtag “#All4AvaGrace” has gained momentum across the country after the accident.
