Bodies Star Amaka Okafor Shares Swimsuit Photo From Pool
Marcus Reynolds Amaka Okafor is making a splash in her bathing suit. In a recent social media post the Bodies star flaunts her amazing figure in a swimsuit as she jumps into a pool with a pal. "Looks glorious!!! Svelte goddess you!!!" commented one of her followers. "JOY!!!!" added another. How does the 43-year-old approach health and wellness? Celebwell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.
Amaka enjoys riding bikes. "I cycled 30 miles today," she revealed in a post. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.
Amaka is a red wine drinker. "Take yerself out for a glass of wine," she wrote on Instagram. "Red wine, in moderation, has long been thought of as heart healthy," says the Mayo Clinic. "The alcohol and certain substances in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent coronary artery disease, the condition that leads to heart attacks."
Amaka is an avid reader. One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.
Amaka runs. "If you want to start running, but you're nervous/not sure you can – just start. I've been running for 15 years now, on and off, and it sorts my head, heart & body out," she wrote in a post. "At first I just went on 15min runs around the neighbourhood, then gradually increased the time. Now I'm training for a half marathon 😬 (shitting it). There have been huge chunks of time when I haven't run at all, and getting back into it felt impossible. It isn't. You can always start again. It's never too late. Each day is new. A huge thank you to all the people who look after my daughter so I can exercise. Life savers."
Amaka also understands the health benefits of walking. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.
