Charles Brandon Inge (/??nd?/ INJ; born May 19, 1977) is a free agent third baseman in Major League Baseball who played professionally in the United States. Before being signed to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ minor league system in 2013, Inge spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, one with the Oakland Athletics, and one with the Cincinnati Reds. He bats and throws with his right hand. A “super-utility dervish,” according to sportswriter Jayson Stark, describes Inge. On June 25, 2006, against the St. Louis Cardinals, he made a diving stop and threw from his knees to strike out Gary Bennett in an interleague game, earning him the ESPN defensive performance of the year award for a third baseman.
