During one of her performances, she got her hair chopped off while singing the song “Nothing Compares 2 U.” She received the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival for her feature film debut, Paper Heart, which was written and directed by her. She appeared as Dr. Chi Park in the medical drama House, in which she co-starred with Hugh Laurie, who played one of the physicians on House’s medical team.
