Christina María Aguilera is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality.

She is well known for her four-octave vocal range and ability to sustain high notes, and has been referred to as the “Voice of a Generation”.

Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York City, as the eldest of two daughters to Shelly Loraine Kearns and Fausto Xavier Aguilera. Her mother is a musician and her father served as a United States Army soldier.

Due to her father’s line of work, the family moved around frequently including New Jersey, Texas, New York, and Japan. However, he was physically and emotionally abusive and they were estranged.

Her parents got divorced when she was six years old. Following their divorce, she, her younger sister Rachel, and her mother moved into her grandmother’s home in Rochester, a suburb in the Pittsburgh area.

Her mother later remarried to Jim Kearns. Together, thhey had a son, her half brother named Michael.
