Kevin Missing Since September 4

Law enforcement agencies, both local police and federal authorities, have initiated a search for an individual who was reported missing on Monday morning following the return of a Carnival cruise ship to Miami.

The 26-year-old gentleman had made plans to join his family for breakfast before the ship’s arrival, but disconcertingly, he did not appear for the scheduled meal.

Upon realizing that Mr. McGrath was unaccounted for, the cruise company promptly contacted the Coast Guard and the Miami Police, as confirmed by Carnival.

Subsequently, on the morning of September 5, 2023, the Miami-Dade police issued a missing person alert for Mr. McGrath. Meanwhile, Kevin’s relative, Raquel Griffin, shared a post on her Facebook account where she requested everybody’s support to find her missing family member.

Officials did not find overboard footage of McGrath

An official reported that various surveillance systems, including those employed by the US Customs and Border Patrol, failed to detect the whereabouts of the missing guest during the disembarkation process. Moreover, the ship’s security cameras did not indicate that McGrath had gone overboard.

This disturbing incident follows closely on the heels of another unfortunate event involving a 19-year-old college student who fell overboard from the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas.

Coast Guard Are Searching Kevin McGrath

Following the unsuccessful search for McGrath onboard the cruise ship, the Coast Guard was alerted, and Miami police officers were dispatched to investigate.

The Coast Guard promptly mobilized its resources for an active search operation near the Port of Miami and the South Florida coastline.

In their efforts to locate Mr. McGrath, the Coast Guard deployed the 87-foot cutter Tarpon from St. Petersburg, a Hercules aircraft based out of Clearwater, and an Ocean Sentry aircraft based in Miami.

These dedicated crews diligently covered an expansive area spanning over 1,347 square miles, which is roughly equivalent to the size of Long Island. Despite their exhaustive efforts, regrettably, no trace of Mr. McGrath was discovered, leading to the decision to conclude the search.
