Dr. Stanley was born on September 25, 1932 in Dry Fork, Virginia. At the age of 12, he became a born-again Christian and at 14, he started his life’s work in Christian ministry.

He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, a Masters Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in theology from Luther Rice Seminary.

Dr. Stanley joined First Baptist Church of Atlanta in 1969 and became a senior pastor in 1971. In 1972, he launched a thirty-minute religious program called The Chapel Hour, which was broadcasted by the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in 1978.

In 1982, he founded In Touch Ministries and its radio broadcast became syndicated and could be heard in nearly every major American media market.

Today, In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley can be heard in 50 languages, and is currently broadcast on approximately 500 radio stations, 300 television stations, and several satellite networks worldwide. In Touch Ministries also produces a free monthly magazine called In Touch.
