Dwight K. Nelson is a preacher and author who works with the Seventh-day Adventist church. Since 1983, he has served as the senior pastor of Pioneer Memorial Church, which is located on the campus of Andrews University. For 10 years before to his arrival in Andrews, he worked as a pastor in Portland, Oregon. The NeXt Millennium Seminar, an Adventist satellite evangelistic series that aired in 1998, included him as the preacher. In 2004, he and former BBC News presenter Gillian Joseph produced a discussion-style series called Evidence: Through My Experience at Newbold College in Berkshire, which was broadcast on the BBC World Service. A second discussion series at Newbold College, entitled Mind The Gap, was held later in the same year as the first. He now serves as the presenter of the television show The Evidence. Nelson teaches homiletics as an adjunct professor at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in California. Nelson was born in Tokyo, Japan, to missionary parents, and he communicates entirely in Japanese. He attended Far Eastern Academy in Singapore and graduated from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1973. He was born in Singapore and raised in the United States. After graduating with a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Andrews University in 1976, he went on to get a doctor of ministry degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in 1986. Outrageous Grace, Countdown to the Showdown, and Built to Last are some of his published works. The Pioneer Memorial Church served as the location for ABC Television’s National Christmas Eve service in 1994. New Perceptions, a weekly radio and television show hosted by him, features him as a guest speaker. Karen Oswald Nelson, a registered nurse, is the woman he is married to. They have two children: Kirk, a boy, and Kristin, a girl. Kirk graduated from Andrews University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
