Gage Prough, Christopher Lamb and David Lamb Die in a Canadian County Plane Crash
Sarah Parker Investigators released the names of the three people who died in a plane crash Monday night in Canadian County.
Trooper Eric Foster with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said authorities found the plane was having engine problems when they took back off to Stillwater. That’s when the incident happened.
“It was a 1971 Beech single-engine aircraft that crashed. There were three on board and it’s terrible. All three were fatal in the crash,” Foster said.
When troopers responded to the C.E. Page Airport property near Northwest 23rd Street and Cimarron Road in Canadian County on Monday, they found all three people aboard the plane had died as a result of the crash. The three people aboard were pilot Christopher Lamb from Perry, David Lamb from Yukon and Gage Prough from Stillwater.
“The FAA and NTSB are all notified. It is their crash, ultimately, to investigate as to all of the details, like what may have caused it, where they were going, where they were coming from,” Foster said.
In the investigation, they found the plane took off from Stillwater around 6 p.m. and landed in Canadian County earlier Monday evening. The crash happened when they took off to head back to Stillwater around 9:15 p.m.
“There were witnesses on scene that reported to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol that they both saw and heard the aircraft sound like it was having engine problems. It was sputtering,” Foster said.
Just after taking off, he said the pilot made a hard left trying to re-land the plane, resulting in the crash.
OHP said they are now turning the investigation over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board so they can look further into what mechanically caused the crash.
