Tim Shaffer experienced a complete cardiac arrest on March 26, 2023, around 12:10 p.m.

The four youngest children in high school were at home, while I was at work. Within a few minutes, Haydn discovered him, and his Ridge started CPR right away. (The kids did amazing, but something kids should never have to do).

Within five minutes, paramedics arrived on the scene. His heart is beating on its own now that they have it beating. Tim is now unconscious and on a ventilator. He is stable, but there are many unknowns. My kids and Tim both need your prayers. I’ll be going to the hospital soon to see whether today will bring any miracles!

30 March 2023 update:

Tim is breathing independently but using a ventilator, which means that he starts the breath and the machine completes it if he needs assistance. This requires brain activity because he couldn’t do it without it.

He has made a few attempts to fully open his eyes, but nothing has worked.nothing further was said.

His cardiologist entered and they spoke for a while.

They believe that the distinction between a heart attack and cardiac arrest a sudden stopping of the heart was caused by the regular electrical current that flows through your tissue striking scar tissue from his past heart attack and causing a “misfire.”
