He attended New World School of the Arts of Miami Dade College for two years and later joined Group 29 of the Juilliard School’s Drama Division between 1996 and 2000, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Howerton made his screen debut in the 2002 made-for-television feature Monday Night Mayhem. He then had recurring roles in That ’80s Show and ER, where Howerton settled into a comfortable small-screen schedule in 2002 and 2003.
