U2 band drummer, Larry Mullen Jr. is facing severe health issues due to injuries sustained on his elbows, knees, and neck. He is set to undergo a series of surgeries as he takes one year off his career to get his health in check.

He will miss a limited concert in September 2023 to open MSG Sphere at The Venetian in the Las Vegas Valley dubbed U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere.

In 1996, when the band was recording their album Pop, Mullen suffered intense back problems, therefore, the recording was delayed due to surgery.

Due to his injury, the team resorted to using electronic drum machines to develop the album; resulting in the album having more of an electronic feel.

Mullen Jr. founded U2 on 25 September 1976 in his kitchen in Artane, along with Paul ‘Bono’ Hewson, David ‘The Edge’ Evans, and his brother, Dik, Adam Clayton, as well as Mullen’s friends Ivan McCormick and Peter Martin.
