United States Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds, FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig D. Fair, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Acting Commissioner Janet Woodcock, and USPIS Inspector in Charge Rafael Nuez announced that a jury found Elizabeth A.Holmes guilty of one count of conspiracy and three counts of wire fraud in connection with a multimillion-dollar scheme to defraud investors in Theranos, Inc.

The judgments came after a 15-week trial before United States District Judge Edward J. Davila.

What is Elizabeth Holmes’ crimes?

Theranos was created in 2003 by Holmes, 37, of Woodside, California.

Theranos was a California-based blood testing corporation with offices in Palo Alto and Newark.

To entice investors, Holmes employed a combination of direct communications, marketing materials, media statements, financial statements, models, and other information.

She claimed that Theranos had developed an analyzer known as the Theranos Sample Processing Unit (TSPU), Edison, or minilab, among other names.
