Despite the fact Mr. Abraham-Joseph, or as the world has come to know him, 21 Savage, has been involved in a brutal battle with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, the rapper can at least take comfort in the fact that the government can’t confiscate any of his money.

According to a report from the entertainment news outlet, TMZ, the federal authorities can only take the funds away from someone who has acquired money through illegal means. Regardless of one’s immigration status, the money can’t be reappropriated if it has been earned rightfully.

The 26-year-old man reportedly has around $8,000,000 to his name following the massive success of his 2018 album, I am > I was,  as well as his 2017 debut, Issa, which spawned hits like “Bank Account,” and solidified Savage as one of the defining voices of the trap music scene.

On the 2nd of February, it was revealed by ICE officers that he had been staying in the United States under illegal circumstances. Born as Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, the rapper was born to British parents and this was confirmed by his certificate of birth.

For twelve years, Savage lived as a British citizen before finally packing his things up and moving to Atlanta, Georgia. His manager, Stone Mound Meezy, claims Savage has been in a jail cell for twenty-three hours a day and doesn’t have a TV or any kind of communication with outside officials.

Thus far, a litany of fellow rappers and musicians in the country have been petitioning to have 21 Savage keep his home in the country. Savage was even persecuted for a drug offense back in 2014 but his status as an immigrant was never brought to anyone’s attention.

A spokesperson for ICE aid that, “his whole public persona is false. He actually came to the United States from the United Kingdom and has overstayed his visa.”

Many of his fans are shocked to hear that 21 Savage is actually a British citizen, due to the fact that he has a thick Georgian accent. He also has three young children. A report from The Daily Mail said he was born on the 22nd of October, in 1992, at the Newham Hospital.
