Meri Brown grew up in a polygamist household and was Kody Brown’s first legal wife. They were legally married from 1990 until 2014 when they got divorced. Though they were divorced, they were still in a spiritual union and Meri shared her husband with his other wives. In 2014, Kody Brown legally married his fourth wife from his spiritual unions — Robyn Brown. Things haven’t been going well between Meri and Kody and it seems she has been gaining more independence and freedom.

Now, people are wondering if she is ready to live her life on her own and on her own terms, away from Kody Brown and her sister wives Janelle, Christine, and Robyn.

A new report from Radar Online quotes source Kristyn Decker (who is Kody’s third wife’s Christine’s aunt) who suggests that as Meri is traveling more and spending more time independently, she is making the first moves that would eventually help her to leave.

Kristyn Decker has been critical of the polygamist system (that she herself was in for many years) and has likened it to a cult.

Decker stated the following to Radar Online.

“That’s the beginning of her leaving. That’s what I did. I had to start taking care of me. I started going to plays, parties, and movies, I would find friends.”

Kody and Meri have suffered relationship issues for several years now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Instead of Meri and Kody getting closer, they seem to be growing further apart and some Sister Wives fans have felt that they gang up against Meri and even ostracize her at times.

Many are encouraging Meri to make the jump and find her own independence and live her own life the way she wants and chooses for her own happiness.

Meri is active on social media and she frequently showcases items from her LuLaRoe business. Those who have followed Meri noticed that she no longer shares photos of Kody Brown and posts more frequently about her self and her friends.
