SZA is a well-known American R&B neo-soul singer and songwriter.

Solána Imani Rowe, known professionally as SZA, was born on November 8, 1990, in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. She was raised in Maplewood, New Jersey. Her father was an executive producer at CNN, while her mother was an executive at AT&T.

SZA was raised alongside an older half-sister named Tiffany Daniels and an older brother, Daniel, a rapper named Manhattan. She attended Columbia High School, graduating from high school in 2008. She later went to Delaware State University to study marine biology, however, she eventually dropped out in her last semester.

SZA released her debut studio album, Ctrl (2017) which debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200. The project was certified double platinum by RIAA and then earned her four nominations, including Best New Artist at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.

SZA is the recipient of several accolades including 14 Grammy nominations and is one of the artists with the most Grammy nominations without winning. She has received a Golden Globe nomination, an Academy Award nomination, an American Music Award, Billboard Music Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, two BET Awards, and the 2018 “Rulebreaker Award” at the Billboard Women.

SZA won the Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist in 2017. She has also made it on the 2020 Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
