The parents of Jamaal Williams are Goose and Nicolle Thompson. Jae Nicole and Onika D. Williams, his siblings, make up his family. They shared their parents’ Rialto, California, home as children.

The Green Bay Packers selected Williams with the 134th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. That year, he was taken in the 13th round of the running back draft. On June 1, 2017, he was awarded a rookie contract.

Williams recorded two rushes for nine yards on September 10, 2017, in his NFL debut, helping his team defeat the Seattle Seahawks 17-9.

He recorded the first running touchdown of his career in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions.

 On December 3, he rushed for 113 yards and scored against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He ended his first season with 25 receptions, 262 receiving yards, two touchdowns, 556 running yards, and four rushing scores. 

On September 26, 2019, Williams sustained a concussion[47] after being hit illegally helmet-to-helmet by Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett during a defeat to Philadelphia in Week 4. Williams was moved off the field on a gurney after lying still on the turf for several minutes. He was taken immediately to a nearby hospital for treatment but was released the following day. 

Williams ran 14 times for 104 yards and grabbed four passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in the following week’s 23-22 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Williams contributed to the 31-24 victory in Week 8’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs by rushing seven times for 22 yards, a touchdown and catching four passes for 14 yards and a score. Along with 39 receptions for 253 receiving yards and five receiving scores, he totaled 460 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
