Jeffrey Gee died at Herrin House of Hope after accident
Sarah Parker Several people remember a Midwesterner who was always giving back to the community.
According to Heartland News, Pastor Jeffrey Gee was murdered by a truck on Tuesday at the House of Hope Food Bank in Herrin. Many folks in southern Illinois paid respect to him and his service on Wednesday.
“To say he’s loaded with meaning is an understatement. “He was a tremendous assistance to this organization and this community,” stated Herrin House of Hope Director John Steve.
Steve went on to say that Gee, who was also a founding member and board member of the House of Hope, had been his mentor for the last ten years and was essential in him getting the director post there. “Pastor Jeff Gee was a father figure as well as a brother,” Steve observed. “As a mentor, he was always available to support and mentor me in my daily spiritual walk.” Gee believed strongly in giving back to the community. As a retired pastor, he continues to volunteer at the House of Hope on a regular basis.
He even started his own bicycle firm to assist people in need of transportation. “He had a child, and it’s upstairs,” Steve explained.
“He wanted to bless you and make sure you could get from point A to point B, he wanted to bless you and make sure you could get from point A to point B, he wanted to bless you and make sure you could get from point A to point B, he wanted to bless you and make sure you could get from point A to point B, he wanted to bless you and make sure you could get from point A to point B.”
Gee was slated to graduate in May with a degree in social work, according to his wife Pam. Gee’s calling, according to Steve, was to serve others. “And he was the kind of man who believed in you even if you didn’t believe in yourself,” Steve explained. Steve stated that his legacy will be carried on by the House of Hope. “And everyone in the community is welcome to help Herrin House of Hope and the community,” Steve added. “As a result, if you want to come volunteer or donate, please do it in Jeff Gee’s name.” The House of Hope, according to Steve, will reopen on Friday, February 24.
