In the first few days of the new year, six people have been killed by gunfire in Louisville.

Coroners identified founding member of Linkin Bridge, 43-year-old Jeremiah Buckner, as the victim of a shooting in the Russell neighborhood.

Together, the four members of Linkin Bridge rose to prominence.

Shon “China” Lacy stated, “We mourned together, we triumphed together, and we accomplished things that were impossible at our age together.”

Original Linkin Bridge consisted of “Ekoe” members Montre Davis, Rome Kimbrough, Shon “China” Lacy, and Buckner. He is described as the band’s unifying factor.

Montre Davis stated, “The work ethic and the drive, and if you didn’t work on that, he would question your seriousness, so he was a really hard worker.”

Now, though, a new world has emerged, one without the 43-year-old. LMPD said that he was shot and murdered Tuesday afternoon in the Russell neighborhood on Village West Drive.

“He fought for peace and opposed gun violence, and his death in such a tragic manner is odd and insane,” added Lacy.

His death has shocked everyone who knew him.

“He didn’t drink, smoke, or party; he didn’t hang out with the wrong crowd because he didn’t believe in it. This is stupid & it doesn’t make sense, “stated Lacy.

Even after Ekoe left the group to pursue other chances, the other members claim that he maintained contact with his brothers and cheered for them from afar.

“It’s a shame that it took me this long to say it, but that youngster was Linkin Bridge’s soul,” stated Kimbrough.

And as they struggle with this new reality, Lacy asserts that his influence will be permanent.

Lacy told WLKY, “We will continue, and we want everyone to know that his legacy will endure.”

No arrests have been made.
