Justin Hall Dies By Suicide: Man Involved in Missing Alberni Valley woman’s Case
Dylan Hughes Amber Manthorne, a 40-year-old resident of the Alberni Valley, has been missing for six days as of Wednesday.
As police renewed their request for information, a guy contacting CHEK News claiming to be Amber’s boyfriend. Many people think he was the last person to see Amber, but he claims otherwise.
The Cassidy region south of Nanaimo is no longer being searched by search and rescue officials, but friends are still looking for Manthorne there.
Nearby neighbours said they are searching everywhere for her Jeep.
“Everyone is taking a peek. We have examined every building that a person might enter and that you don’t frequently visit’, said Steve Stupich.
On McGillivary Way close to Nanaimo, Manthorne’s 2021 Jeep Compass was discovered on Friday in the afternoon.
Police speculated that she may have been with a man after she vanished.
Manthorne had been dating Justin Hall for about a year when he was identified as the man.
Manthorne informed a friend over the phone that she was going to see Hall on Thursday night even though they had just broken up. Friends think she left the night before her Jeep was discovered, leaving her home on Great Central Lake west of Port Alberni.
“She brought a present for him. She had intended to see him that evening, according to a family acquaintance, Kristie St. Claire.
Mounties discovered Hall this week.
The hunt for Amber is still ongoing, so detectives are really unable to provide specifics regarding when or where he was found. However, we can report that we have spoken to him and followed up with him. We’ve blocked off that area, and we’re still looking for Amber, said BC RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.
Hall’s email address sent a message to CHEK News on Wednesday.
I didn’t hurt my girlfriend, I swear. I have no idea why she hasn’t returned,” Hall wrote.
“After our disagreement, I panicked and just wanted to leave everyone behind. Since I didn’t have a cell phone, I was unable to get in touch with anyone, and by the time I did, it was already too late; I was considered guilty in your eyes.
“I read a pamphlet that was posted around Nanaimo that I was the last person with Amber,” the email continues.
This is untrue. I explained what had transpired that evening when I met with the RCMP. I am aware of how tense everyone is, yet I am also a part of this.
As many people wish to actively participate, those in charge of the Facebook page Finding Amber Manthorne are organising independent searches under the direction of the authorities.
They wish to assist and contribute to the solution. They want to bring her back,” St. Claire continued.
