Sykes is a reporter well-known for her position as a WTAE reporter. She began working at Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 in May 2015. Her broadcasting career has taken her to Clarksburg, W.Va., Salinas, Calif., and back to West Virginia, where she spent 3 years and a couple of months at WCHS in Charleston. Sykes has covered some interesting stories in her career, from angry white shark attacks to disastrous weather to the water crisis in West Virginia that left  300,000 people with no water for a couple of days.

When she was still working at WCHS, Katelyn reported in a weekly series called West Virginia Wildlife.
