Kidnapped Rizza Abrera killed by an ex-boyfriend in murder-suicide
John Peck Tuesday brought the identification of the lady who, according to authorities, was killed by her ex-boyfriend after he kidnapped her at gunpoint inside a Las Vegas shopping mall.
Police said that her killer was also identified; he later committed suicide.
The Clark County coroner’s office reported on Tuesday that Rizza Abrera, 38, passed away early on Friday morning in a bedroom in her ex-boyfriend’s house in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.
The coroner’s office still hadn’t concluded what caused her death.
The bedroom included the ex-boyfriend, Steven Robert Evans, 41. The coroner’s office said that he passed away later that morning at University Medical Center.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the woman was kidnapped at gunpoint from a retail complex in the 9200 block of South Eastern Avenue on Thursday at around 7:30 p.m.
When police went to her ex-boyfriend’s home in the 9600 block of Scrub Jay Court, close to West Sunset Road and South Grand Canyon Drive, he refused to let them in.

Two ladies and the couple’s 3-year-old child were also being kept hostage in the house, Metro Homicide Det. Jason Johansson reported on the scene.
According to a press release from the police on Friday, SWAT personnel entered the house “after a lengthy attempt to get the male to surrender” and discovered the man, subsequently named as Evans, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and the woman, later identified as Abrera, deceased.
