A native of South Carolina, Henderson had to grow up fast after she became pregnant at the age of 16. Deciding to keep the baby, she later married the father of the child. Over the next ten years, she would have three more children, get divorced, and work two jobs to support her family. Despite the hardships, she never lost sight of her dream. She auditioned for the reality competition ‘American Idol’ thrice and was rejected every time. Her luck eventually changed in 2014 when she recorded herself singing Sam Smith’s arrangement of Whitney Houston’s ‘How Will I Know’ while trying to get her daughter to sleep. After she uploaded the video on Facebook, it quickly went viral, making her a social media celebrity. Henderson has since signed with Break Media record label and released the single ‘Tiny Hearts’.
