Larry Charges and Sentence

Larry is alleged to have ordered the killing of William “Pooky” Young, a 19-year old neighborhood drug dealer. William is said to have been abducted on the evening of 26 February 1973. Larry’s name was mentioned as one of the three people accused of stealing drugs and money from the gang five days earlier. William would later be shot to death in an alley near 68th Street and Union Avenue in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. Larry was arrested on 16 March 1973  following the incident along with Young’s killer, Black Disciple member Andrew Howard.

They were both charged with murder and sentenced to 150 to 200 years in prison in November 1973. Larry was sent to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, Illinois, to serve out his term. While in prison for murder, after a 17-year undercover investigation by the federal government, Larry was indicted for drug conspiracy, extortion, and went on to engage in criminal activities.

He was arrested at the Dixon Correctional Center by federal agents, and taken to the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago to face trial. Larry was found guilty on all charges in 1997. He is currently serving his sentence at the United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence, Colorado.
