Lauren Paige Sivan was born on 6 April 1978, in Long Island, California USA, and is a news reporter as well as an actress, best known for her work on the Fox network. Recently she came forward accusing executive Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and other sexual misconduct.

Completing her studies, she landed her first, brief on-screen job as an anchor and reporter for News 12 Long Island, then took another job at the New York-based television station WTEM-18, with which she stayed for two years from 2003 to 2005.

She subsequently moved to Fox News Channel, where her fame would increase significantly, starting out as an overnight headline reader, before transitioning to field reporting. Two years later, she decided to accept an offer as a reporter for KTTV Fox 11, leaving New York, according to her partly because she disliked New York weather, then opportunity to work closer to home, and with the Fox News Channel. She left the company on good terms, and was actually on her way to better job opportunities had she stayed, but she opted to take another path forward.

Sivan’s work has led her to two Emmy Award nominations, having appeared in several high profile shows throughout her career, including “Red Eye”, “Strategy Room”, “The Fox Record” and “On the Record”. Some of her most notable works include coverage of the Mexico immigration dilemma and of the Israel/Lebanon conflict in Jerusalem which earned her one of her Emmy nominations. She’s also done production work for shows such as “Fox & Friends” and “Fox News Sunday”.

In recent years, she’s been seen as the anchor of “Studio 11 LA”, the hour long 5PM newscast of KTTV, covering various topics including entertainment, politics and sports, while also working for Fox 11 News as a reporter and anchor. Thanks to her popularity, she’s been cast in acting roles as well, beginning with the 2014 films “Transcendence” and “Taken 3”. In 2018, she appeared in the film “Hotel Artemis”, which is a cyberpunk thriller starring Jodie Foster and Jeff Goldblum, and follows a nurse who runs a secret hospital for criminals in a futuristic Los Angeles.

For her personal life, it is known that Lauren was engaged to Fox correspondent Rick Leventhal, and the two were in a relationship for several years. However, their wedding was called off and the relationship ended, though the reasons have never been shared publicly. Since then, no new relationships have been reported, so it’s believed that Lauren is still single, but choosing to keep that aspect of her life away from the spotlight.

She mentioned in an interview that she had a desire to have a career in front of the camera at a young age, also that she loved the outdoors, but actually managed a high school boys hockey team, although it wasn’t a very good experience as she had a lot of difficulty. Similar to numerous broadcast personalities, she is highly active online through social media, having accounts on Facebook and Twitter on which she promotes some of her recent work, while staying active in her battle against Harvey Weinstein.

The Harvey Weinstein Case

The founder of The Weinstein Company, in 2017 Harvey Weinstein was accused by numerous women of sexual abuse, leading him to be dismissed from the company, and expelled from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. According to reports, he’s been accused by over 80 women, and the allegations sparked the “#MeToo” social media campaign in which many other women stepped forward with sexual abuse allegations against powerful men around the world. This phenomenon is now called the “Weinstein effect” – he is currently charged with rape as well as other offenses.

She was one of the women who publicly came forward, telling the story of how Weinstein trapped her in the kitchen of a restaurant that was closed to the public, and masturbated in front of her, in an incident that happened more than a decade ago when she was just beginning her career at Long Island 12. She had told her friends of what happened, but publicly remained quiet due to the power that he had over the media. At the time she came forward, many other women started telling their stories against him as well. The issue continues to gain media attention, as Lauren now states that she has been demoted from her current work after coming forward with the details of Weinstein’s harassment.
