He remained one of the 10 trainees who participated in the South Korean survival reality show ‘MyDOL’ that recorded the development and debut procedure of the South Korean boy band ‘VIXX’ created by ‘Jellyfish Entertainment’ in 2012. All the six members of ‘VIXX’ including Hongbin were selected through an elimination procedure via viewer votes during ‘MyDOL’. His debut with ‘VIXX’ happened with its debut single and single album ‘Super Hero’ in May 2012. The following year he made his first on-screen appearance as himself in a cameo role with other members of ‘VIXX’ in the South Korean series ‘The Heirs’. Thereafter he landed up with a supporting role in an SBS series ‘Glorious Day’ and went on to earn a lead role in a KBS2 aired drama ‘Moorim School’. This was followed by a main cast in the web drama ‘What's Up With These Kids?’ and the lead role in the SBS Plus aired mini television series ‘Wednesday 3:30 PM’.
