Despite the fact that the victim’s DNA profile was not found in any database, samples were transferred to a private business, Parabon Nanolabs, for additional processing in order to identify the person.
Through the use of ancestry-style databases and family tree research, Parabon Nanolabs was able to determine a potential identification.
They were able to provide detectives with a potential Jesus Ruiz identify. Detectives got in touch with Ruiz’s family to get DNA comparisons that proved the remains discovered in 2006 belonged to Jesus Ruiz.
