Linus Roache was born on February 1, 1964, in Manchester, England, to actors William Roache and Anna Cropper as one of their two children. He had a sister named Vanya.
His father William is best known for playing the role of Ken Barlow in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street since its first broadcast on December 1960. For his role, he has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-serving television star in a continuous role.
His mother, Anna, first came to prominence playing a young schizophrenic in the television play In Two Minds. However, she died suddenly of a heart attack in January 2007, at the age of 68, at her home in Tangmere, West Sussex.
