Penn State shared the following statement regarding the death of Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre:

“We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of Lovisa Arnesson-Cronhamre, and we send our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones,” a university spokesperson told Onward State Wednesday. “Lovisa was a doctoral student from Sweden who was studying architectural engineering. Penn State Student Affairs has been in touch with her family and friends and is providing support to those who have been impacted.”

Penn State encourages students in need of support to utilize Counseling and Psychological Services, Global Programs resources, and Student Care and Advocacy services.

A 25-year-old Penn State student was killed Tuesday night when she was struck by a vehicle on East Park Avenue. The driver, described by police as a 20-year-old male international Penn State student, was heading westbound, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck the female jogger on the sidewalk around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The pedestrian was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona, but ultimately died, according to police. State College Police don’t believe alcohol or drug use was involved in the crash.

Penn State sent a university-wide alert at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday night that Park Avenue between Allen Street and Bigler Road would be “closed for an undetermined amount of time, due to a traffic accident.”
