Forchhammer started singing at the age of 3 and began classical training at 8 and joined the Copenhagen Boys’ Choir. He pursued a law degree, attending classes before he dropped out upon signing his record deal. Prior to this, he began writing songs in his teen years, and by 2010 he had taken the name Lukas Graham (Graham is his father’s middle name).

Forchhammer enlisted his childhood friends to form a band that now trades under his name. No ­matter how much I’ve tried, the other lads just aren’t lyricists. The band started by signing Copenhagen Records, which was a local Universal – subsidiary, which suggested that they film some ­”noncorporate-looking material” to put online in order to create a faux underground buzz.

It was reported that the group was unsigned who put a video on YouTube but he says that that’s not how it happened. However, the plan worked and their videos blew up on the Internet and the group is now signed to Warner Bros. worldwide. The other group members are drummer Mark Falgren a.k.a Lovestick and bassist Magnus Larsson a.k.a Magnum.

The group has released 3 albums as of 2018: Lukas Graham, Blue Album, and 3 The Purple Album. The debut self-titled album was released in 2012 by Copenhagen Records and Then We Take the World labels. It peaked at number one on the Danish charts and was also officially released in the United States by Warner Bros. Records on 1 April 2016.
