Fred Vanvleet was born on 25th February 1994, to Fred Manning and Susan Vanvleet. Moreover, he is biracial because his father was black while his mother is white by race. When he was only five years, his biological dad was shot to death in 1999.

Following the traumatic death of Fred’s dad, he was raised by his single mother alongside his brother, Darnell. Until his mom finds love again with a veteran army officer and police officer, Joe Danforth, coaching against his high school team at an AAU tournament.

Following the basketball match, Fred’s mother, Susan and Mr. Danforth began dating. Following one year of relationship, they relocated to Danforth’s hometown on the west side of Rockford. The basketball coach also shares a son, J.D. Danforth, from a previous marriage.
