Michael Vaughan Missing Update; Fruitland Police Update
Sophia Aguilar It has been nearly one year since now six-year-old Michael Joseph Vaughan vanished from his neighborhood in Fruitland, ID.
Law enforcement with the Fruitland Police Department, Idaho State Police and FBI have been investigating the disappearance of the young boy since the evening of July 27, 2021. While developing a detailed timeline of events leading up to Michael’s disappearance Investigators have processed over 1,000 leads. Nearly all leads have been thoroughly reviewed and cleared. Investigators say the process is exhaustive, but they believe someone will provide information to solve this case.
As of Friday, July 22, 2022, investigators continue efforts to identify a man seen walking through the splash pad area of Crestview Park leading up to the time of Michael’s disappearance. The man is described as a white male adult, late 20s early 30s. He was seen wearing black shorts, a white t-shirt with cut off sleeves, dark colored shoes and hat. Photos of the individual can be seen below.
Note: This individual is not a suspect or a person of interest at this time, but police need to speak with him to determine his whereabouts and if he witnessed anything that would be helpful to the investigation.
“Detectives work daily to sift through viable leads and piece together the known information so we can solve this case,” says Fruitland Police Chief JD Huff. “As members of this community, we agonize with the family and have dedicated our resources to bringing Michael home. We continue to work with our investigative partners, release relevant information, and believe broader distribution of this story will generate more attention and tips that can be investigated. Anyone with any information, please let us know. No tidbit of information is benign or too obscure as we process the overall picture.”
Michael’s mother, Brandi Neal, described the situation as a continuing nightmare, and says she is hopeful someone will have the courage and strength to come forward with the information to help find Michael.
“We hope that someone can have the courage and strength to bring forth the information that could help us find Michael,” says Michael’s mother Brandi Neal. “This is a continuing nightmare that no family should ever have to go through. We want Michael home with us and appreciate the communities support and tips. We know even the smallest piece of information can bring Michael home.”
