Florida toddler found dead in retention pond after wandering away from home, deputies say

– A three-year-old boy, who was at the center of a Florida Missing Child Alert on Sunday, has been found dead, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency said members of its dive team located the body of 3-year-old Axel Caballero in a nearby retention pond after he wandered away from his home wearing a shirt and a diaper.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a statewide missing child alert for Caballero around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. His body was found shortly after the alert went out.

A post on the SCSO Facebook page states that its thoughts and prayers go out to the boy’s family. No additional information has been provided.
