A metro Atlanta neighborhood is mourning the loss of a well-known bookstore owner after her corpse was discovered in a nearby creek on Monday. Officials now claim that her staffer abducted and killed her.

According to the sheriff’s office, a body was discovered in Putnam County’s Cedar Creek around 1:15 p.m. by a fisherman. The corpse was identified by deputies as that of Atkins, 42, of Locust Grove.
A memorial has been set up in front of Birdsong Books, and many people have brought flowers to the area. One of Atkins’ friends has brought flowers and is shocked that this could have happened to her.
“I continue to feel queasy in my brain and stomach. Atkins’ acquaintance Shanna Amoah said, “I just keep thinking about her.
Atkins was reported missing on Saturday, according to Amoah.
It simply astounded me. In essence, it completely stunned me. Amoah added, “I was just totally devastated.
Atkins, according to those who knew her, will be mourned.
“Erica led an active life. She was devoted to supporting her neighborhood. She gave away literature and her time. She even visited my summer program last year and read to my campers while donating.
