The death of Linda Beermann occurred on Saturday, according to Roper and Son’s Funeral Home.

Ken Siemek, the chief meteorologist for 10/11 NOW, said, “Deb and I were heartbroken to learn about the unexpected demise of Linda Beermann on Friday. She spent several years in the 1970s and 1980s as a crucial member of the 10/11 News crew. In 1986, when she made the decision to give up watching television in favor of spending more time taking care of her young family, she handed the weather “torch” to me. She was a cherished part of the 9/11 team and gave me career advice in the beginning of my career. Our thoughts are with Allen and their kids.

As a reporter, Beermann began working for 10/11 in February 1968. She served as 10/11’s news assignment editor from 1973 to 1980. From 1970 through 1986, Beermann was the station’s weather announcer.

According to Jim Timm, president of the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, “Linda enjoyed a successful career as one of the first women to appear on local television as a news reporter and weathercaster.” “Her drive undoubtedly inspired many women to follow in her footsteps and provided them with the confidence to do so. We express our sympathies to her husband Allen, their sons, and their grandchildren and are devastated by her passing.
