Blackhawks

Foley was the announcer in Midway’s arcade game 2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge. The Blackhawks organization made the controversial decision to withdraw their contract offer to the popular Foley in May 2006, citing unspecified “personal” reasons. The team also ended their simulcasts, replacing Foley on the radio with John Wiedeman, former New York Islanders broadcaster and on television with former Columbus Blue Jackets voice, Dan Kelly, Jr.

The Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League named Foley their cable television play-by-play announcer on September 12, 2006, for the 2006–2007 season. Also, the broadcasts were simulcast over the internet and on a radio station available only in the arena. Foley teamed with his then Blackhawks broadcasts partner Bill Gardner.

The Hawks released a statement on the same saying: “We are aware of the insensitive remarks made by play-by-play announcer Pat Foley on Sunday’s broadcast. Pat has personally spoken to the Eisbaeren organization to express his deep regret. He and the organization sincerely apologize to Austin Ortega and Eisbaeren and will not be commenting any further on the matter.”
