Thomas Markle has spoken out regarding the news Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed a baby boy earlier today.

The little guy makes Thomas a grandfather but considering his estranged relationship with Meghan royal watchers are wondering if he will ever meet his grandson? Well, Thomas does not have an answer to that question, but he does have a message for the new parents and Baby Sussex.

“I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well. I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor,” he began his statement to The Mirror.

Thomas’ relationship with the Duchess of Sussex is severely damaged. He staged paparazzi photos weeks before her wedding to Prince Harry, and he bailed on walking her down the aisle. Plus, he has referred to the British Royal family as “Scientologists.” Despite the strain on their relationship, he is thrilled for his daughter and son-in-law, as well as overjoyed to have a grandson.

“God bless the child, and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen,” Thomas finished his statement to The Mirror.

Last fall when news broke of Meghan’s pregnancy, Thomas spoke to US Weekly admitting he found out about the baby the same way the rest of the world did, via the Palace’s official announcement. At the time, he shared it was a proud moment for him to know his daughter was going to be a mother. Thomas also expressed he was looking forward to seeing either a little Meghan or Harry.

Thomas Markle is hopeful he will get to meet his grandson, but recent reports have indicated Meghan Markle will never let her father meet her child. There is reportedly too much bad blood between them for her to consider letting Thomas into her baby’s life.

Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed a baby boy, it remains to be seen if motherhood will change her mind about her estranged father. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never spoken out regarding all the drama with Thomas. Now that their son is here, that will probably not change.
