Tracie Thomas was born on August 19, 1975, in Baltimore Maryland as one of the known children belonging to Mariana and Donald H. Thoms. Her dad showed her the way to creativity as he was a VP of programming at PBS and a television director. She has a brother whose name is Austin.

Tracie carved a niche for acting from an early age and when she was ten, she had already begun taking acting classes to hone her skills the more. Subsequently, the actress enrolled at the Baltimore School for the Arts. She also bagged different degrees from Howard University and Julliard School Drama Division.

The actress kicked off her career immediately she graduated from college in 2002 appearing in the television drama series, As If. After three episodes, the drama series, As If got canceled so, Tracie relented in acting and appeared only in Cold Case all through 2003. She made a comeback in 2005 with an astonishing performance in the film Drowning Crow. In between her roles in 2005, she guest starred in a few episodes of Law and Order as well as The Shield.

In films, Tracie has made several appearances on the set, doing what she knows how to do best. She is acknowledged for her role in the Broadway musical, Rent. A role she replaced the original cast, Fredi Walker because she became too old to play. She made a blast in the 2002 movie, Porn ‘n Chicken and subsequently played different roles in Brother to Brother and The Warrior Class.

In the classic movie, The Devil Wears Prada, Tracie Thoms was cast as Lily. She starred alongside Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight in the movie, Jimmie and played a role in Death Proof. It was after her role in Death Proof that Tracie began appearing in Broadway films making her first appearance in Drowning Crow. The actress subsequently appeared in Up Against the Wind, The Oedipus Plays, A Raisin in the Sun, Come and Gone, The Exonerated, Falsettos, and The Antigone Project. Everyone who saw the movie, Wonder Woman had a feel of Tracie’s acting prowess as Dianna Prince personal assistant. Playing perfectly as a fake mom in Annie, the actress has also shown her versatile acting ability.

Through the year 2010, Tracie made an appearance in the concert review, For The Record: Quentin Tarantino starring as different characters: Jenna Leigh Green, Autumn Reeser, Ty Taylor, and Audra Mae. Also, she starred in For The Record: John Hughes and For the Record: Baz Luhrmann.

Playing a lesbian role and tweeting publicly on how perfectly she feels about being a lesbian in the real world could get anyone questioning her sexual orientation. After Tracie played as Betsy Wolfe’s love interest in the Broadway movie, Falsettos, she went ahead to post a picture of them in the real world, stating how she feels with her role. That post caused an uproar on the internet with many assuming that she is a lesbian. Plus the fact that Tracie Thoms has never been spotted with any man in the past or has she been linked with any fueled the speculations.

That said, the actress often posts pictures of her on-screen husbands on social media confusing a lot of her fans on what to believe regarding her sexual orientation. More so, despite the fact that her lesbian character in Falsettos is married in real life, it has not done any changes with the mindset of many.
