Tributes: Athlete Tyler Scocca Dies In Providence Fatal Crash,NY Galway HS Student
Sarah Scott The person killed in a deadly car accident in Saratoga County on Sunday night has been identified as Tyler Scocca of Galway, New York.
Scocca, a Varsity wrestler for Galway High School, was killed in a single-vehicle collision in Providence on Sunday night.
According to accounts, around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Scocca was driving a car on Hans Creek Road in Providence near Fayville Road when, for an unknown cause, the car off the road. The car then overturned and slammed into a tree.
Scocca was identified as having passed away from collision-related injuries.
Following the teen’s passing, Galway PTSA Superintendent Brita Donovan made the following statement:
Dear Galway Families,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to all members of the Galway Central School District family. We learned this morning that one of our High School students was tragically killed in a car accident last night. Tyler Scocca was going into his senior year and has two younger siblings in grades 4 and 6 in the district.
Tyler was a very funny young man who was a friend to all. He wrestled for the varsity wrestling team and for Journeymen Wrestling. His quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed in our hallways and lives.
Coping with the loss of a child, friend, classmate, student is one of the hardest challenges that many of us will face. Please know that our crisis team is available to talk with anyone who needs support coping with this terrible loss. Counselors will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 27 and 28, 2023 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Galway Junior/Senior High School – please use the Joseph Henry Elementary School entrance.
I encourage parents and guardians to talk with their children about this tragic loss. Discussing thoughts and feelings is important in helping your child work through his or her grief, shock, and confusion.
