Two men are charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing the proprietor of a barbershop in Oak Park at the behest of a drug dealer seeking retribution.

Lamar Kennedy, whose real name is Lamar Canady, was one of the victims of the shooting.

Lamar Kennedy, 32, who had only recently launched his store called Official Cutz when he has shot dead two years ago, was killed. Dion Chambers and Ian Patrick Guthrie were charged in the shooting.

The shop’s owner, Kennedy, was inside when the assailant approached and started shooting. Rapidly disseminated news of the shooting sparked a commotion among locals.

Concerned citizens packed the streets for information as Police conducted their investigation.

San Diego Police made security images and a video available to the public after the incident to identify the shooters.

What Happened To Lamar Kennedy?

The news that Lamar Kennedy was shot to death is one of the most devastating.

On May 9, 2014, at around 11:30 am, Kennedy was shot and killed by a gunman inside his barbershop.

The prosecution claimed Grant, who oversaw a drug trafficking enterprise, planned to exact revenge on Kennedy for stealing marijuana and having an affair with Talya Martin more than a year before the murder.

Each defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder in Kennedy’s death on May 9, 2014.

According to the prosecution, Guthrie, 40, served as a driver and a lookout while Chambers, 51, allegedly fired the deadly rounds.

The first witness at the suspects’ preliminary hearing was a murder detective from the San Diego Police Department.

He remembered gory details of the crime scene and how Police discovered the body following the shooting in the barbershop.

According to Det. James Jones testified, “I did see a tremendous volume of blood at the murder scene.” “And it looked that he had several head injuries.”

According to the prosecutor, Chambers shot Canady 16 times in five seconds, including once in the back of the head and another that burned the victim’s hair and scalp.

Chambers also shot the victim in the skull and numerous times above the eye.

Chambers and Guthrie ran away from the incident, but a criminal investigator identified the one call Guthrie made to Chambers from phone records.

The defendants’ phones were used to trace them down, and false Florida driver’s licenses were discovered.

Lamar Kennedy Parents And Family

Lamar’s family members were there in large numbers at the murder trial. Lamar Canady Jr., the victim’s son, described his Father as a kind man who used to take him out cruising.

The 12-year-old, who was 10 when his Father was killed, promised to do his best to be an excellent example for his sisters and a lovely son, grandson, and brother.

Kennedy’s children’s mother, Melissa Hernandez, stated following the judgments that although he wasn’t perfect, he was changing his life.

Hernandez remarked, “Lamar made many mistakes, but if you turn your life around, you don’t deserve to die. And you don’t have the right to kill someone, in any way, only because of what they’ve done in the past.

Lamar Kennedy’s mother asked the suspects, “Why my son?” they could not respond.
