Mohamed Sylla, best known by his stage name MHD, is a French rapper who was born in Paris on September 10, 1994. He is credited for creating the “Afro Trap” style by mixing trap music with West African music. Mohamed Sylla was born in La Roche-sur-Yon to a Senegalese mother and a Guinean father.

Sylla, who went by the stage name “MHD” before going by his name, was 18 years old in 2012. Mohamed joined the 1.9 Réseaux rap crew from the 19th arrondissement. He once belonged to the rap crew 1.9 Réseaux. After attempting to break through for years and spending a lot of money, he eventually abandoned the gangsta rap scene.

MHD, his stage name, released his first studio album on April 15, 2016. The album includes tracks featuring Fally Ipupa and Angélique Kidjo as well as six episodes of his Afro Trap series. When the album sold more than 200,000 copies in less than six months, it was certified double platinum in France.
